Flu-Proofing Workshop
There are more ways to prevent the "flu" than a flu shot. To learn more, come to the office Monday, December 11th at 7:30 p.m., where we will discuss the common varieties of colds and flu, how to treat yourself and family when possible, and give you a prescription for amantadine. Amantadine is an antiviral agent effective against influenza type A and more useful than a "flu shot" for most healthy adults. We'll also discuss other kinds of "flu" and cold remedies as well, including methods that give you the best chance of getting your energy back quickly.
The fee is $5, payable in advance, not billable to insurance. Family rate $7.
Travelling?
Then you'll be interested in our travel kit. This includes educational material to help you take care of yourself abroad, including prescriptions for medications appropriate to you. We can address problems unique to you that you'd like to be able to treat. We tell you how to deal with traveller's diarrhea, with motion sickness, and other conditions peculiar to travel.
You begin by bringing your itinerary, then read some material about travel illnesses. Then in the office we review the medications appropriate to you, prescribe them, and tell you how to use them.
Seasickness
Some years ago we began to prescribe ephedrine and promethazine (the brand name is Phenergan) for seasickness. It worked so well we got calls from as far away as Alaska and California — too many calls. The solution: we've packaged the medications here and provide them to you for $15. You read our instructions and precautions for use, sign a release, and get them without an office call.
